Ethos House Rules
While we aim to provide a general overview of expected guest behavior at all Ethos Vacation Homes, we would like to emphasize that our guests are responsible for ensuring that all occupants are aware of and comply with our full Terms of Service, as well as each specific home’s House Rules, that are communicated at the time of booking.
We hope that our rules are reasonable and fair to protect our homes, our neighbors, and our future guests who might arrive just a few hours after you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or requests before booking.
Check-In and Check-Out
- Guests may check-in any time after 4 PM and must check-out by 11 AM. If you would like to request an Early Check-In or Late Check-Out, you can do so through your personal online Ethos Home Guide, that you have access to right after your reservation is confirmed. We’ll do our best to accommodate such requests. Occasionally we may be able to confirm only 24 hours in advance due to other existing reservations.
- If you overstay past your designated check-out time, you may be liable for any costs and additional fees of up to 150% of the effective daily rate of your stay for each day (full or partial) that you overstay, as well as any other related damages, fees, costs or expenses incurred by us, such as our loss of a subsequent guest reservation or booking alternative accommodations. We reserve the right to enter the accommodation, remove any belongings, change the locks or lock codes to the space and take further action as may be necessary or appropriate.
Prohibited Articles and Conduct
- Illegal substances, drugs, and smoking of any kind—anywhere on Ethos properties, including but not limited to tobacco, marijuana, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, kretek, electronic cigarettes, hookah, vape, nitrous oxide, salvia or opiates. Illegal drugs and smoking any substances will result in the immediate cancellation of the reservation and a $750 Excessive Cleaning Fee to deep clean and deodorize the home. Please note that we employ recreational smoking detectors on our properties.
- Unauthorized guests. Please observe the maximum occupancy allowed on each specific reservation. If you would like more than the allowable number of guests on your reservation to occupy the home at any time during your stay, please confirm it with us before checking in. If you exceed the maximum number of authorized occupants, you will be liable to pay $75 per person per night for the entire reservation for each unauthorized guest, and if we find it necessary, we may revoke or terminate your right to occupy the home.
- Parties, events, and excessive noise. Please note that our properties have non-invasive decibel noise and crowd monitors to prevent unauthorized parties.
- Disturbing neighbors or invading their privacy or security. Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep noise to a minimum from 10 PM to 7 AM.
- Unplugging, moving, or blocking the view of any security cameras. If we notice that our ability to provide safety and security to the home is hindered due to any of these reasons, you may be liable for any damages to the equipment and for reinstallation costs by a licensed security company.
- Pets, anywhere on the property—unless the reservation explicitly states otherwise—including but not limited to Siamiese, Persian, or Sphynx cats, Abyssinians, Macaws, Parakeets, Clownfish, Garibaldi, Bulldogs, Terriers, Retrievers, Hounds, Labradors, and most regretfully Corgis (we like them the most). We will charge a $200 Pet Cleaning Fee to deep clean the home after any presence of an animal. We encourage individuals with service animals to contact us before booking.
- Unaccompanied children under 14 years of age left by themselves in the home.
- Firearms and weapons, as well as other dangerous or hazardous items, such as candles, lighters, charcoal grills, and other artifacts that may increase the risk of fire or explosion.
- Changes, modifications, alterations, or additions to the home or its contents, including moving furniture around.
- Unsanitary conditions, such as excessive trash or offensive odors, that may attract pests. You are responsible to keep the home tidy and sanitary during your stay.
- Pornography production or prostitution.
- Commercial photography, film, or video production without expressed written consent of Ethos Vacation Homes, and using the property for any purpose other than for personal accommodation.
